Singapore, 30 September 2016<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Hitachi Asia Ltd. today announced that Hitachi\u2019s Finger Vein Authentication Solutions (FVA-100) was awarded Silver in Access Control Category of the Safety & Security Asia (SSA) \u2018Merlion Awards\u2019. The Merlion Award is recognition of the highest standards of security innovation excellence in Singapore and is also one of the highest accolades in ASEAN. It aims to honour the outstanding concept and new designs or products of security, assessed by academic and industrial experts. Winners were evaluated based on their excellence in the following criteria: product innovation, design, benefits to consumers, user-friendliness of product, and significance of unique feature.<\/p>\nHitachi\u2019s finger vein solution provides a high-accuracy, user-friendly biometrics technology that uses the vein patterns of a finger to authenticate an individual’s identity. It has a false acceptance rate of 1\/15million, 15 times more accurate than conventional cases and its authentication rate of 10,000 fingers per second is also three times faster than conventional cases. Because of its small and highly manageable size, it can be applicable to various uses such as door-access control.<\/p>\n
The SSA 2016 was held from 28-30 September at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre and aims to increase awareness on the importance of maintaining security in numerous forms. In addition to the Finger Vein Authentication Solutions, Hitachi also showcased its holistic suite of solutions that aims to combat the threat of security. They include the Multi-Perspective Search (combination of video surveillance system and VCA for upgrading an entire facility), Live Face Matching (provides real-time facial image matching for video surveillance systems where continuous pro-active threat detection is essential), Similar Face Search (provides very high speed search of stored facial images, significantly reducing operational search time), and Video Content Analysis Technology (monitors the situation at a facility by analyzing the flow of people or objects in the surveillance video).<\/p>\n
